Talavera is a Spanish city located west of Madrid. This was the place where Arabic pottery was developed in the Iberian Peninsula; the craft was then introduced into Puebla by the Spanish conquerors. In Mexico, it underwent a series of major influences until it became the art form known as Talavera, which is still being manufactured with the same techniques as in the 16th century.
